Alison Johnston is the President and owner of Alison Johnston consulting. She has over 20 years experience as a C-level executive in both non-profit and for-profit organizations.
Prior to starting her own company, Mrs. Johnston was the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of The Phoenix Symphony where she was responsible for all administrative functions including Community Relations, Individual and Corporate Fundraising, Grant writing, as well as Finance, Marketing and PR, Human Resources, IT and Patron Services. In this role, Mrs. Johnston developed collaborative relationships and partnerships with both for-profit and non-profit organizations including major companies such as APS, ASU, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, National Bank of Arizona, PetSmart, SRP, Salt River Pima Indian Community and Wells Fargo to name a few.
Before joining the Symphony, Mrs. Johnston was the COO for the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center (VOSJCC) where she held a similar role. As the Executive Director of Ballet Arizona, she successfully raised over $5M to complete the organizations' new facility.
From 2010 to 2012, Mrs. Johnston was the COO of PetSmart Charities, in charge of overseeing the day-to-day operations of the non-profit organization, which grants out over $32M per year to animal welfare groups in North American and Canada. At PetSmart, Johnston led the team that created and launched a national campaign cause-related campaign, called People Saving Pets, to raise awareness and financial support for homeless pets.
Earlier in her career, Mrs. Johnston spent 12 years with Citigroup Latin America and the Caribbean, holding various senior level positions including Country Business Manager of the Consumer Bank in Venezuela and The Bahamas, Deputy Director of Corporate Affairs, Senior Product Manager and Marketing Director for Latin America.
Mrs. Johnston has her MBA in Marketing from the Joseph A. Martino School of Business at Fordham University, NY, NY, and her B.S. of Journalism from the Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. She resides in Scottsdale with her husband James, son Trevor and two rescue dogs, Josie and Day-Z. An avid golfer and fitness enthusiast, Mrs. Johnston enjoys the outdoors as well as spending time with her family and friends.
